WE'VE PUT TOGETHER A LIST OF OUR MOST FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS TO HELP YOU THROUGH YOUR AESTHETIC WHITENING TRANSFORMATION
How does this treatment work?
A full whitening treatment takes approximately 1.5 hours to complete. After a consultation with your Whitening technician, you will be taken to a comfortable reclining lounge/ chair and gum protector will be applied to protect the gums from the Hydrogen Peroxide (HP) gel. Once this is set by a curing light the HP (6%) is applied to the teeth.
The HP is activated by a LED blue light which is set for 3 x 20-minute intervals to allow additional HP to be added to the teeth during the process. Once complete, the gel is removed from the teeth, you will rinse with water and the treatment is complete.
Does this treatment cause sensitivity?
While it is rare, some individuals may experience temporary sensitivity in their teeth and gums for a few days after teeth whitening. If sensitivity does occur, it is always a short-term symptom that will typically subside within 24-48 hours following your treatment. Please rest assured, this is an uncommon occurrence, and most clients experience no discomfort at all.
How long will the results last?
Teeth whitening is not permanent, but how long the effects last will depend on the type of treatment you have and how well you look after your teeth afterwards.
In most cases, teeth whitening can last from six – twelve months. Results will last longer if you avoid smoking and refrain from staining foods such as coffee, tea, soft drinks and red wine.
Who is not suitable for this treatment?
Not everyone is suitable for whitening treatments. Our treatments are not recommended If you have an oral health condition such as tooth decay, exposed roots, gum disease or to those under the age of 16.We also do not recommend our treatments for woman who are pregnant or breastfeeding.
What are we unable to whiten?
Teeth whitening specifically works on tooth enamel. It doesn’t change the colour of dental work such as crowns and bridges, veneers or fillings although it may lift stains from the surfaces. If you have dental restorations such as Crowns or Veneers they cannot be whitened further than the colour they were originally matched with.
Should teeth whitening be done by a dentist?
Teeth whitening is purely cosmetic and non-dental. You can have confidence knowing we use high-quality products and equipment that is compliant with Australian standards and regulations.
How white will my teeth get?
It’s best to have realistic expectations before undergoing any of our whitening treatments. Not all whitening treatments are equally effective on all people this depends entirely on the persons physiology, lifestyle habits and diet. It’s important to remember that not all teeth will whiten to the same degree, teeth whitening can change a tooth’s colour by several shades, meaning teeth that are more stained or discoloured will not whiten to the same degree as teeth that were whiter originally.
